Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how MarginCI handles personal information when you visit marginci.com, request private alpha access, contact us, or use the current MarginCI CLI.

For privacy questions or requests, email hello@marginci.com.

Information you send us

When you email us, we receive your email address, the name associated with your message, its contents, and any attachments. You may also provide your organization, information about your application, or technical details needed to investigate a problem.

We use this information to respond to your inquiry, manage alpha access, distribute the software, and provide support. We may use feedback and technical information you provide to diagnose problems and improve MarginCI and its documentation. We may also keep records needed to administer evaluation agreements and communicate about your participation in the alpha.

Send only the information needed for your request. Remove credentials, personal information, and confidential material unrelated to the issue before sharing logs, reports, or code.

Website traffic and analytics

We use Cloudflare to deliver and protect the website. Cloudflare processes request and connection information, which may include your IP address, requested pages, browser and device details, timestamps, and security signals. We use the request information and security events available to us to investigate errors, detect abuse, and keep the website available.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand website usage and page performance. Its reports may include information such as page views, referring websites, visitor countries, browser and device categories, and page loading measurements.

Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies or browser storage to collect usage metrics and does not fingerprint individuals for analytics. Cloudflare separately processes network traffic to deliver and protect the website.

Cookies and browser privacy signals

Cloudflare security features may use cookies and browser checks to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated traffic and remember completed security challenges. The cookies used depend on which protections apply to a request.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking security cookies may interfere with access to the website.

We do not use advertising trackers. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Do Not Track

We do not track your activity across unrelated websites. Our website does not change its behavior in response to browser Do Not Track signals.

Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control is a browser signal used to communicate an opt-out preference concerning the sale or sharing of personal information.

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. These practices apply to every visitor, including visitors who send this signal.

Other parties

Cloudflare may use information about traffic across its network to identify threats and operate or improve its services. Cloudflare handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Data processed by the CLI

The current private alpha CLI runs on your machine or CI runner.

MarginCI has no MarginCI telemetry endpoint and does not automatically upload run files to us.

The CLI creates files such as test inputs, source snapshots, request measurements, logs, and results in your environment. These files may contain confidential or personal information.

Run artifacts may remain on disk or in CI artifact storage after a check. You control how long retained artifacts are kept, including copies created by your CI configuration.

Your application sends data to its configured API providers, and dependency installation may contact package registries. Those services process requests under their own terms and privacy policies.

If you send us reports or logs for support, we handle the information we receive as described in this policy.

See Security and data handling for details about retained files, redaction, and sharing reports safely.

Service providers and other disclosures

We use service providers to operate MarginCI and handle correspondence. These currently include:

We do not currently use an additional support provider that receives customer emails, logs, code, or other support material.

We may disclose information when required by law or valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, address a security incident, or protect legal rights or someone’s safety.

We may also disclose information at your direction or with your permission for a stated purpose.

If MarginCI or its business is acquired or transferred, relevant personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law. We will provide notice of material changes in how that information is handled when required.

Retention

We retain correspondence and alpha access records for as long as needed to handle your request, support your use of MarginCI, and maintain relevant agreement records.

We retain support attachments while needed to investigate the reported issue, verify a fix, or address a related security concern.

Retention depends on why the information was collected, the status of our relationship, whether an issue remains unresolved, and applicable legal requirements. We may retain relevant records longer when needed to resolve a dispute or investigate a security incident.

We review stored correspondence and support material and delete personal information or remove identifying details when it is no longer needed for those purposes. This includes copies in support and debugging workspaces we control.

Copies in service-provider backups may remain until they are deleted or overwritten under the provider’s normal retention procedures.

Website logs and analytics are subject to the retention settings and limits of the Cloudflare services we use. Relevant security records may be retained longer when needed to investigate an incident or meet a legal obligation.

This section concerns information held by us and our service providers. You control the files MarginCI creates in your own environment.

Your choices and requests

Email hello@marginci.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you.

Include enough information to identify the relevant correspondence or records. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing information.

Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may have additional rights concerning your personal information, including rights to obtain a copy, object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

We will handle requests according to applicable legal requirements. If we cannot fulfill a request in full, we will explain the reason where required. If applicable law provides an appeal or complaint process, you may use that process.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights provided by law.

You can ask us to stop nonessential communications by replying to an email or contacting hello@marginci.com.

Security

We use HTTPS for the website and restrict access to correspondence and support material to the people and services that need it for the purposes described in this policy.

No method of storage or transmission can guarantee complete security.

Report suspected security issues to security@marginci.com. Avoid including credentials or other secrets in your initial message.

International processing

Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those countries may have different privacy protections from your country.

Contact hello@marginci.com with questions about where your information is processed.

Children

MarginCI is intended for software developers and organizations and is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact hello@marginci.com so we can investigate and take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as MarginCI and our data practices change.

When we update it, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date.

If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate or required by law.
